Are You Ready For The May Mile Challenge?

4 min read

The Sun is out, it’s time to get movin! The May Challenge will have you rethinking how to approach daily movement. Read about it below!

may challenge

HAPPY MAY!
WE MAAAAAAAADE IT.

Is it just me or do we all deserve a gigantic margarita for making it this far into 2020?

Seriously, take a minute and give yourself a gigantic hug, self high five, or mirror pep talk for surviving one of the craziest times in history.

I’ll wait and send you these vibes:

may challenge

While we are not quite out of the woods yet, we are FINALLY done with what felt like 18 months of Winter. And that deserves some celebration.

We can finally feel the sunshine, walk outside without 9 jackets, wake up to blue skies & birds singing, and can spend nights on our patios and around bon fires. # Praise.

This May is slightly different than normal. With people living and working in ways that we never could have imagined before, it is extra important to get outside and appreciate the health that we’ve been blessed with.

So I created the May Challenge to help us celebrate!

The May Challenge!

The Challenge:

Commit to completing a certain number of miles for the entire month of May. (Challenge begins May 4th- May 31st, a total of 28 days)

Example Goals:

  • Complete 2 miles of walking everyday to reach a total of 56 miles!
  • Complete 100 Miles in the month of may using a combination of running and walking.
  • Complete 200 miles of biking
  • Complete 1 mile a day of running for a total of 28 miles during the month of May

Get creative with this, but also be realistic about your time and abilities!

The Goal:

The goal is that you are moving a little bit EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Weekends included.

You can plan to complete the same distance everyday, or have some days bigger than others. “Rest Days” with less distance is fine, but try to avoid taking entire days off.

How Can I Complete Miles:

Walking, running, biking, swimming, rowing, bearcrawling- you name it!

Just make sure your end goal is representative of your method! (Don’t pick too many miles with something that is super hard, or vice versa). Miles can be done on machines (bikes, treadmills, rowers etc.) if needed.

Why Should I Participate:

Aside from the fact that this is awesome, and daily movement is good for you, and it’s nice outside, and you’ve been cooped up inside for 6 months, and you’re probably vitamin D deficient, and you were made to move, and your spine is probably all crunched up from sitting too long, and fresh air is good for your brain-

You should participate to honor the people who can’t. Not everyone is healthy or able bodied enough to move their body everyday.

But you are.

So tattoo it on your forehead that the opportunity to move is a blessing, not a curse– and then let’s get started. Deal?

How Do I Win?

Not to be super cheesy- but everyone wins.

  • I win because you move everyday.
  • Your body wins because movement will heal all the things.
  • Your partner wins because you will be 1/2 as crazy when you are exercising regularly
  • Kids win because maybe you’ll let them tag along for some miles too!?
  • Your work wins because you will live super long and can keep punching that clock on their behalf.
  • Humanity wins because exercise creates a whole and healthy human who can continue to stand in the gap for others and change the world for the better.

How To Sign Up & Participate

Leave a comment below and share your mileage goal for the month and how you’ll be completing your miles! Each week post on the same thread and update us all on how close you are to your goal!

Conclusion:

Stop being a total goofball already and let us know how many miles you plan to complete! Is there a person you plan to move in honor of? Let me know!!

TLDR: your body’s not wrong, your thoughts are— clean it up.
Boone turned 2!! Where do we start with this guy? Boone turned 2!!

Where do we start with this guy?

He is the spiciest,
bossiest,
most fearless,
goofiest boy I have ever met.

He can climb everything.

He will jump off anything 😰

He will hug any animal while side eyeing every human.

The guy can throw an award winning tantrum. He knows what he wants and he just knows not to settle in life 😅 which is very fun for me.🤪

In the zombie apocalypse, Boone will win. Everything. He’s tough and strong and never moving slow.

I love him so so much.

Happy Birthday to the Wild One. Our life is brighter and better with you in it ❤️🔥😘
Let’s not forget the goal here folks… VIBRANT Let’s not forget the goal here folks…

VIBRANT 👏🏼 HEALTH 👏🏼

My attachment isn’t to a number on the scale but to being my best.

I want lots of energy and pretty hair and PRs in the gym 🏃🏼‍♀️💪🏼🤷🏼‍♀️

What are your thoughts on this approach?

WEEKEND PHOTO DUMP 1) homemade perfect bars. 😍 WEEKEND PHOTO DUMP

1) homemade perfect bars. 😍 none of the seed oils and alllll the amazingness. (And didn’t cost $98/ bar like in the grocery stores 😅)

2 the sun came out this weekend— anyone else suddenly realize they’ve been sad since October when we last saw it?!

3. Howling practice. Duh.

4. Buzz learns to use a scooter

5. Boone eats a donut like a savage. Beck eats with the precision of a surgeon. COULD. NOT. BE MORE DIFFERENT 😂

6. Boone got his license. All was fun until he drove under the trampoline and destroyed the big boys 😂

7. This is why we workout.

8. Beck has taken to showing his muscles off to strangers. He obviously has to take his shirt off. So naturally we are teaching Boone. Everyone say FLEX!

9. Not pictured: I started a compost bucket and I’m NERD LEVEL EXCITED. Send me all the tips.

Happy Monday ya’ll!! Let’s have a kick ass week shall we?!
