The Sun is out, it’s time to get movin! The May Challenge will have you rethinking how to approach daily movement. Read about it below!
HAPPY MAY!
WE MAAAAAAAADE IT.
Is it just me or do we all deserve a gigantic margarita for making it this far into 2020?
Seriously, take a minute and give yourself a gigantic hug, self high five, or mirror pep talk for surviving one of the craziest times in history.
I’ll wait and send you these vibes:
While we are not quite out of the woods yet, we are FINALLY done with what felt like 18 months of Winter. And that deserves some celebration.
We can finally feel the sunshine, walk outside without 9 jackets, wake up to blue skies & birds singing, and can spend nights on our patios and around bon fires. # Praise.
This May is slightly different than normal. With people living and working in ways that we never could have imagined before, it is extra important to get outside and appreciate the health that we’ve been blessed with.
So I created the May Challenge to help us celebrate!
The May Challenge!
The Challenge:
Commit to completing a certain number of miles for the entire month of May. (Challenge begins May 4th- May 31st, a total of 28 days)
Example Goals:
- Complete 2 miles of walking everyday to reach a total of 56 miles!
- Complete 100 Miles in the month of may using a combination of running and walking.
- Complete 200 miles of biking
- Complete 1 mile a day of running for a total of 28 miles during the month of May
Get creative with this, but also be realistic about your time and abilities!
The Goal:
The goal is that you are moving a little bit EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Weekends included.
You can plan to complete the same distance everyday, or have some days bigger than others. “Rest Days” with less distance is fine, but try to avoid taking entire days off.
How Can I Complete Miles:
Walking, running, biking, swimming, rowing, bearcrawling- you name it!
Just make sure your end goal is representative of your method! (Don’t pick too many miles with something that is super hard, or vice versa). Miles can be done on machines (bikes, treadmills, rowers etc.) if needed.
Why Should I Participate:
Aside from the fact that this is awesome, and daily movement is good for you, and it’s nice outside, and you’ve been cooped up inside for 6 months, and you’re probably vitamin D deficient, and you were made to move, and your spine is probably all crunched up from sitting too long, and fresh air is good for your brain-
You should participate to honor the people who can’t. Not everyone is healthy or able bodied enough to move their body everyday.
But you are.
So tattoo it on your forehead that the opportunity to move is a blessing, not a curse– and then let’s get started. Deal?
How Do I Win?
Not to be super cheesy- but everyone wins.
- I win because you move everyday.
- Your body wins because movement will heal all the things.
- Your partner wins because you will be 1/2 as crazy when you are exercising regularly
- Kids win because maybe you’ll let them tag along for some miles too!?
- Your work wins because you will live super long and can keep punching that clock on their behalf.
- Humanity wins because exercise creates a whole and healthy human who can continue to stand in the gap for others and change the world for the better.
